Getting down to the last few things to prep here in my packing as I’m loading enough crap for a month in my car and driving to San Jose.
Friday morning I’ll hop in the car and drive for 30+ hours and 2,000 miles until I get to San Jose. As long as an early storm doesn’t settle in I’ll take the northern route of I-80 .
I have a 30 day stay booked at an ex tended stay hotel and will be spending a good deal of my non-work hours hunting for a rental house and wandering about the area attempting to learn it.
My wife will finish packing up the house over the next few weeks and after I find a place she’ll join me.
I’m excited and terrified O
ppo!
Also this song has been in my head all week.

Good luck! Hopefully you'll find a place soon. Don't forget to check the pressure in the spare tire.

Thanks! I’ve been watching the market fairly closely the last month and a lot of houses go off market within a few days of being listed so we’ll see. I’ve only ever rented from a family friend and we’ve owned for 11 years so this will be a new experience...
Spare got checked that last week and also got new tires a couple weeks ago. The wagon will be loaded down so I very much hope not to need it. I do plan on sticking a Ryobi cordless inflator in the car too.

Speaking from experience, I-68 to I-79 to I-376 is a much less stressful drive out of DC, PA turnpike sucks. Watch your speed on I-80 in Ohio, the Ohio Highway Patrol
are EVERYWHERE.

Luckily I’m west of there, starting in St Louis. I’ll be doing I- 70 across Missouri to to I- 29 to I-80 in Omaha and then just hauling on I-80 from there all the way to the bay.
I took 80 back from Colorado last year and preferred it to 70. You can set the cruise 5-10 mph higher and it’s a more interesting view from the road.

nice, yeah, 90 is even better, but doesn’t make any sense if you’re going to the Bay Area. Have a great trip, it’s expensive as hell down there, but it sure is fun.

Yeah my housing cost is going to triple, but I live in one of the cheapest places in the US and am tired of it. So onto a more interesting but expensive place.
